Trip List: Customized Birding Tour (15-24 February 2009)

Participants: Brian Beers and James L. Cone, Tour leader: Knut Eisermann.

This tour was focused on range-restricted species of the north Central American highlands. We visited Antigua Guatemala, Atitlan volcano, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala City, Motagua valley, and the Yalijux mountain from 15 to 24 February 2009.

We saw a total of 215 bird species, and an additional 23 species were heard only. Four of five species restricted to only Chiapas and western Guatemala were seen well: Horned Guan, Pink-headed Warbler, Azure-rumped Tanager, and Black-capped Siskin.

It follows a list of all species recorded (Nomenclature according to AOU, 2008: Forty-ninth supplement to the American Ornithologists' Union check-list of North American birds. Auk 125:758-768). Species which were heard only are marked with "H".
